Geoff Paterson and the musicians of the London Sinfonietta after the premiere of For Years Now

It has been an exhilarating week of rehearsals with the London Sinfonietta on my new commission For Years Now. They premiered the piece in the concert on Saturday alongside some larger ensemble pieces with the Sinfonietta Academy players, including Birtwistle’s seminal Carmen Arcadiae Mechanicae Perpetuum, and a series of Scandinavian works including Anna Thorvaldsdottir’s magical Hrím. The musicians of the Sinfonietta played beautifully - it was a hugely rewarding experience for me, and I realize that this was the first public performance of my music that I’d attended since March 2019.

Many congratulations to the musicians of the London Sinfonietta, and to the Sinfonietta Academy - I was heartened by how much fierce dedication and talent they displayed - the future of music is bright indeed!
